Valuing others

Dear ,
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” — Philippians 2:3
Self-obsession is the hallmark of the disease of addiction. We were the stars of our own tragic movies, and everyone else was just an extra. Recovery is the process of stepping off the stage and realizing that the people around us are just as valuable and loved by God as we are.
Humility makes room for grace. When we stop trying to be “the most important person in the room,” we find a strange new freedom. Valuing others doesn’t mean thinking poorly of ourselves; it just means thinking of ourselves less often. It shifts our focus from “What can I get?” to “How can I love?”.

Identify someone today who is often overlooked or ignored. Make a conscious effort to value them by listening to them or showing them a specific kindness.

Lord, form humility in me and remove my pride. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You deserve a life free
from addiction
Sincerely,
